I shared all my favorite Boise trails on this map

As a professional content creator, my whole job is documenting outdoor experiences for everyone to enjoy. I write about adventures all over the USA and the world. But I’m often covering just the major destinations like national parks, big ski resorts, and famous mountain towns. That’s all good, but what I don’t do enough is share my passion for the local trails where I live. Of course I love traveling the world and going deep into the wilderness, but the outdoors I enjoy the most are right here in my own backyard. I spend far more time on my local trails than anywhere else. I believe that should be true for everybody. Love where you live!

I currently live in Boise, Idaho where we have an amazing local trail system, and I get out as often as I can to enjoy it. Boise’s trails twist throughout the foothills north and east of town, making a web of hilly paths beyond the reach of pavement. Whether you’re a hiker, trail runner, or mountain biker, you can easily find a backyard adventure here in Boise.

I love a good trail anywhere, but my favorite thing about these in Boise are the huge views that you get right away. Just steps away from any trailhead puts you on the side of a grassy hill overlooking the city and mountains beyond. From there you can go as far as you want, even miles away and thousands of feet up into the mountains.

I hope that everyone who lives in Boise can take the opportunity to explore these trails, and I welcome any visitors to enjoy them too! Just remember the trails are a community resource that we have to all protect, so please use them nicely! Don’t go out if the ground is muddy, because the fine soil is easily eroded when wet, and surrounding vegetation is slow to grow back when trampled. We want to preserve our smooth trails and pristine prairie. But there is still room for everyone if we share the trails responsibly, and I want you to experience it! For that reason, I’ve decided to share the very best in Boise, according to my humble opinion.

To do this, I’m using a cool new mapping app called Steps. It allows you to create your very own map, highlighting any destinations you choose and adding your own description. You can then invite your friends to contribute, or open the map for anyone to add to! I’ve actually made my map public, so you can add your own favorites if you want. So without further ado, here’s my map of Boise’s best trails:
